FWC Special Meeting

There will be a special meeting of the Franklin Watershed Committee on June 24th, 2010 at 7:00 pm in the FELCO Room at the Franklin Homestead.


Shoreline Buffer Workshop

The FWC will be conducting a workshop to educate members of the community about cost-effective and environmentally sound methods of solving shoreline erosion problems. All are invited to attend! Please help us to plan by contacting our coordinator and registering for this event.

Presentation at 2010 Lake Seminar

Our Coordinator Heidi Britch-Valenta made an outstanding presentation at this year's Lake Seminar on June 4th in Castleton. The Lake Seminar is an annual event put on by the Federation of Vermont Lakes and Ponds. You can download and view her presentation slides on our presentations page.


Presentation of 2009 Water Sampling Results

Susan Warren of the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources Department of Environmental Conservation presented the results of the 2009 Lay Monitoring program at the FWC's May 13th meeting. See our Presentations page to view and download the results.


FWC receives Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence & Pollution Prevention

The Franklin Watershed Committee's efforts to reduce Lake Carmi's phoshporus load were recognized in this year's Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence & Pollution Prevention. The award was presented by Governor Jim Douglas and Jonathan Wood, Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources on May 3 2010.


Tree Planting at Benjamin Farm

The FWC planted trees at Mike Benjamin's farm as part of a Conservation Reserve Enhancement Project (CREP) on Wednesday, April 21. Students from Franklin Elementary School were there to help and learn about the environment, and an article about the event was featured on the front page of the St. Albans Messenger.
